Round 1
Andy Nicholls suffered a problem and was unable to make the line, giving Sam Bolton a clear run into the next round.
Anthony Teal had a real tough job up against top-qualifier Andy Waite, who not only ran a screaming 10.4, but also pulled out a better reaction to make the win look easy.
Mark Gunns had the upper hand against Paul Webster, and didn’t hang around to run a decisive 10.9 that Paul didn’t stand a chance of matching, even with superb reaction times at the line.
Dale Finn also failed to make the line in round 1, handing the victory to James Hodson.

Semi Finals
Sam Bolton had a tough task against Andy Waite, and summoned all he could to get off the line first, pulling out a superb 0.1 reaction time against Andy’s slow 0.5, but Andy rampaged past and took the win with an excellent 10.3 against Sam’s strong 12.2.
James Hodson should have had a good match against Mark Gunns, but James got away quicker, with a 0.2 reaction against Mark’s 0.4. However, Jame’s run lost momentum and his terminal speed shows he was well off the power at the finish line, sending Mark through to the final against Andy Waite.

Finals
Mark and Andy were off the line at almost exactly the same moment, but Andy’s run was perfect, while Mark’s run was below par, failing to make a 10 for the first time this round, and handing the win to Andy by less than a second.
Andy therefore made it a clean sweep of wins for the 2009 ESC 3-round championship, and a run-away points leader. Congratulations Andy!
