Round 2 Report 2009 - PTM Show
The PTM Show was bathed in sunshine for the second round of the Euro Sports Compact series, and a slight tailwind put the drivers in a good position for some excellent times in qualifying. With a decent field of competitors present, four drivers managed superb 10-second passes, meaning that reliability and good reactions would be paramount for progression to the finals.

Round 1
In round 1, top qualifier Andy Waite took on bottom qualifier Richard Cooper, but with Andy performing even better than in qualifying, and Antony performing slightly worse, it was an easy ride for Andy.
James Hodson should have been very equally matched against Mark Gunns, and Mark’s excellent reaction time put him in a good position off the line. However, he was unable to keep the pace, and James came past him on a real charging run.
Andy Nicholls threw it all away with his red-light foul against Paul Webster, and Paul went on to run an exceptionally high terminal speed, really showing the potential of the mini.

Semi Finals
In the semi finals, James Hodson was up against a slower Paul Webster, but tere was nothing Paul could do to progress to the finals when a mechanical fault saw him abort his run against James’ storming 10 second pass.
Andy Waite had an uncontested run to the finals and earned himself a bye-run as the result of his top qualifier position. It didn’t stop him from going for a balls-out 10.3 though! Andy entertaining the crowd as usual!

Finals
In the finals, James Hodson was relying on his drag racing experience to win this race through good reaction times. However, when it came to the critical moment, he got the reactions spot-on, but just couldn’t pull out the mid-10 he needed to defeat Andy who was on a real flier of a run.
Andy’s second victory in the series puts him in an extremely strong position for the championship finals that are due to take place at USC.
